Bavaria (Part Two) The Accomodation.

Schlossrestaurant Neuschwanstein has a website (http://www.schlossrestaurant-neuschwanstein.de/) but neither of our rooms were on it. I thought perhaps you'd like to see our accomodation in case you might like to book these rooms.
What made it special for all of us was finding that this hotel and restaurant housed the canteen and sleeping quarters for the orginal builders of Neuschwanstein Castle. Although refurbished, we were staying in a "historic" building.

The kids had a little suite (Room 3)
Notice the clever radiator covers with the swans.

They added a special touch, fruit in each room.

Of course, the accomodation is German, so you will have low beds, duvets and "huge squares" with no solid innards for your pillows. Bring your own pillows if you don't like the German type.

We had room number 5.

We found the bed very comfortable.

Our room was larger then the kids, but they had two rooms to their's and we had just the one.

Jonah is coming in to check out "Mimi and Mac's" room.

The bathrooms were very clean but the towels were a bit shabby.  Having said that, I know my own towels at our home in Maine are needing replacing.  I did notice a bit of mildew on the ceiling wallpaper in the shower, but the kid's room did not have that malady.

I was a bit concerned when I saw a set of floodlights to light the castle at night, were situated directly by our bedroom window. It was not a problem though.  They had room darkening shades and we found that if we drew the shades and pulled the curtains in front of the shades that  it was dark enough to sleep without a problem.

Our room was on the second story, left of the picture, the two shuttered windows.

The hotel lies just above where the horse carriages leave off the visitors who opt to take the ride instead of walk the restricted road up to the castle.
Mac gives finding Schlossrestaurant Neuschwanstein a thumb's up. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Tomorrow, I will show you the fabulous restaurant we ate at in the village.

  1. I can't believe how grown-up Jonah is looking! Good to hear you had such a wonderful trip. I'm getting slightly worried about the pillows now though...!
